Special Features The Liu Hsing-chin Comic Museum is located in a disused former railway administration building in Hsinchu County and features the comics and inventions of master comic book creator Liu Hsing-chin. With the help of the Jiuzantou Cultural Association, funding was secured from the Ministry of Culture to transform the dilapidated housing into a wonderland of comics. The museum opened its doors in March 2005 and houses a permanent exhibition, special exhibition space, gift shop, refreshment area, observatory, comic library, and a parents & infant restroom decorated with Liu’s comic strips. Special exhibitions are held from time to time to showcase comics and related artifacts.
The permanent exhibition area features a “Time Tunnel” and Liu’s studio, which provide an overview of Liu’s achievements and the birth of notable comic characters, such as Big Auntie, Ah-San, and Robot. The gift shops sell products inspired by Liu’s comic characters, neckties, mobile phone straps, and comic books by Taiwanese artists.
